KARURA（カルラ）とは、インド神話に登場する神鳥（別名ガルーダ）のこと。古代中国や日本では、迦楼羅（かるら）として信仰されてきました。カルラのようにアジアに暮らす人々から幅広く愛されるようにという願いから名前を拝借しました。
KARURA is a divine bird that appears in Indian mythology, and was popularly known as 迦楼羅(karura) in ancient China and Japan. So I borrowed the name from the hope that it will be widely loved throughout Asia like Karura.

中国の映画大学「北京電影学院（BEIJING FILM ACADEMY）」監督科の留学を経て、およそ１０年間、北京を拠点とし、NHKの数々の国際共同制作番組でディレクターを担当。異国のクルーと協力し、アジアの深遠で多種多様な文化や芸術、歴史を映像に記録してきました。主な作品は、NHK《涙の書～作曲家タン・ドゥンの世界〜》（※シカゴ国際映画祭テレビ賞 銀賞、アメリカ国際フィルム・ビデオ祭 Silver Screenを受賞）、シリーズ《中国秘境 謎の民》、《紫禁城 皇帝の知られざる花園》、《GIGAKU! 踊れシルクロード》（※ATP賞総務大臣賞ノミネート）等。
After studying at BEIJING FILM ACADEMY, has been based in Beijing for about 10 years, working as a NHK director on a number of international co-productions. Working with foreign crews, we have documented the profound and diverse cultures, arts, and history of Asia on film. Major works include NHK's "The Book of Tears: The World of Composer Tan Dun" (*Awarded Silver Screen at the Chicago International Film Festival and Silver Screen at the American International Film and Video Festival), NHK series "Mysterious People in the Unexplored Regions of China", "The Forbidden City (8K)", "GIGAKU! Dancing Silk Road", etc.
